A grid of 54 individual studies after Leonardo da Vinci’s much-copied Mona Lisa of 1503. Intended as a celebratory work, Holly pays homage both to da Vinci’s infamous painting at the Louvre and to another twentieth-century artist hero of hers, Andy Warhol, who also made countless studies of this masterpiece.
Made with Mona Lisa in mind - surely the ultimate poker face - this original comprises a full set of playing card portraits of the Mona Lisa, painted in gouache and overlaid with monotype line. A classic Holly Frean pack of cards: each deckled-edge, work-on-paper original is numbered, suited and signed on the back, float-mounted on conservation board and box-framed with museum-grade, non-reflective glass.
