Oil on wooden palette
57 x 48.5 x 3 cm
Framed in a clear perspex box frame
This oil painting on a recycled wooden palette shows one of Holly Frean's heroes, Pablo Picasso, in various states of undress. Picasso is seen accompanied by his dachshund, Lump, who watches whilst sandals, stripy t-shirt and shorts are discarded (or indeed put on, we can't be certain). Using the curved shape of the palette, Frean shows a cycle of activity and our eye is repeatedly drawn back to the palest figure - Picasso with arms and legs outstretched, easy in his nakedness, Lump looking on bemused.
